News & Case Studies
From time to time, we would like to provide you with an overview of what's happening in Teammania. We'll look at a couple of case study events and check out the latest developments from our creative center.
Super Hero Quest finds super heroes in New York.
Our New York based client wanted a team building event to help communication and team work in her division. The event was to be for 120 people. It also had to be great fun, as restated by the Chief Executive. One of her concerns was that the event be "not too preachy". After discussing the objectives of the meeting and the type of people coming (sales and finance) we recommended Super Hero Quest as the ideal solution.
Super Hero Quest is designed to start "gently", but it didn't happen with this client. The team cheers had us jumping out of our skin and one of the delegates was up on a table in the first 10 minutes!! That sort of enthusiasm normally doesn't happen until the second half of the event. Another of the team members said it was the "best team building event he had been to in 17 years". Don't we love that kind of feedback!
New Jersey Energy Company finds Diamonds in Dallas Texas
Another of our clients is a New Jersey based energy company with a business arm in Texas. For their Dallas conference they were looking for an enjoyable team building activity that would challenge their team members and reflect their industry. We may not have had an oil mining activity, but "Diamond Mine" hit the nail on the head. In a very fun way, it reflects the challenges that confronts their business on a daily basis, both on the risks and compromises of the exploration to the ups and downs of the world economy.
While some team members were literally on their knees begging for mercy from King Solomon (the costumed Teammania facilitator) the rest were having a good old belly laugh. Team building should always be this much fun
Boston IT company saves the World
This Boston Massachusetts IT company wanted a team building event where their people could exercise their competitive and analytical side. When we hear these 2 phrases we think "Power Play" and what a success it was. "Power Play" had them wheeling and dealing, negotiating and strategizing in an attempt to save the world.
We all had a lot of fun during the "Power Play" event, but our client sums up the benefits to their company better than we could: "We have kept the same cross-functional teams we organized with you, for other company and team events during the year. The new channels of communication opened between co-workers during the Power Play exercise has certainly been a noticeable benefit to the work relationships and dynamics in the office". We couldn't have said it any better than that.
Pharmaceutical Company finds the heroes in its team
Even one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies needs a pick-me-up tonic from time to time. Only this time it wasn't a prescription drug, but rather a nice strong dose of Teammania's Super Hero Quest that proved to be the best medicine. A take-over had dropped the morale levels to a point where performance was not as it could have been. Our Washington Teammania guru, Brian McNelis, took our client through 3 rounds of fun and creative challenges that make Super Hero Quest the ideal application.
Miami Florida feels the heat of Power Play
Another Massachusetts client chose Miami Florida for their team of 120 people. After a close assessment of their needs and people, we recommended Power Play. Power Play is an excellent vehicle to get people from around the country talking and discussing alternative strategies in a team. In Power Play, the teams confront a world crisis situation which they can try to survive on their own or in alliance with other "countries". The participation and involvement is a joy to behold. Once again our clients say it best: "The way you managed to create a level of energy, involvement and interaction between our colleagues was a delight to behold. It worked very well both as a team building and entertainment event."
The Power of Asia
One of our regular pharmaceutical clients was running an event in Penang Malaysia. They wanted to improve the team spirit and sense of belonging amongst their South East Asian offices as well as challenge their competitive spirit. Another job for "Power Play"!
To be honest, we were a little apprehensive as to how such a diversity of races would accept Power Play. Careful preparation and selection of the teams made our concerns totally unfounded. The event was every bit as successful as it was in any other (English as first language) country. In fact it was even funnier. One country decided to sing the national anthem of Australia and it was hilarious! The tune was basically right, but the entire lyric consisted of just 2 words: "waltzing Matilda". Very funny. OK, you needed to be there. Mind you, they knew 2 more words than any of us know of the Malaysian or Thai national anthem.
Transport company finds Diamonds in Canberra Australia
One of the largest transport companies in Australia prides themselves on their team work and they wanted an event to help reinforce that strength. After a consultation with their business manager, they followed our recommendation of Diamond Mine. It was a challenging mixture of delegates to the conference. We had some very senior management and some blue-collar people in the same event and our client was concerned that the event didn't come across as either too trivial or too high-brow. That's the beauty of a Teammania event such as Diamond Mine. It's complex to write and facilitate, but easy to comprehend and run with. Another great match of client objective and Teammania solution. As the client said: "Not only was the event enjoyable, but it is in line with promoting what we're all about with team work, team building, strategic thinking and resolution".
